Our Services
Family Law
Joint Custody or Shared Responsibility means that both parents have legal rights and responsibilities towards the child. It does not mean that the child will spend half of their time with one parent and half with the other, but that each parent has an equal say in decisions relating to that child in areas such as health and education. Even if the child lives with the other parent, you may still have shared parental responsibility.

If the court is to provide equal shared responsibility then it will also consider whether equal time is in the best interests of the children and whether it is practical. Rather than equal time, for example, the court may order substantial and significant time be spent with the other parent, which might translate to be 4 nights per fortnight rather than 7.

Wills and Estates
It is important for every adult to have a valid will setting out what they propose is done with their property in the event of their death.
Prior to the distribution of property following a death, a grant of Probate or Letters of Administration must be obtained from the Court. We are able to assist in the making of those applications.
Estate planning can extend to issues that may arise during your lifetime should you lose capacity to make decisions for yourself. Adults of a certain age ought to consider what will happen in the event that they lose capacity. The right time to make preparations is before that loss of capacity occurs. Preparation of a Power of Attorney and Enduring Guardian will ensure that you or your loved one is able to be adequately taken care of should a loss of capacity arise. It can provide direction as to what you wish to happen should that loss of capacity occur.

Children - Care and Protection
Care and Protection is the area of law that focusses on the welfare of children and the need to protect them from neglect and abuse. This area of law is governed by the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act 1998 (NSW) and proceedings are commenced in the Children’s Court of New South Wales.
Unlike Family Law matters which involve disputes between private individuals, Care and Protection proceedings are commenced by State welfare bodies.
We offer both private and legal aid representation in Care and Protection matters.
